Application of state estimation methods to control of flight paths
Abstract
Optimal estimation of the state of a hypersonic vehicle descending in a planetary atmosphere is discussed. The problem of optimal trajectory control of the spacecraft is considered for the autonomous portion of the descent trajectory. System and observation models are developed and attention is given to the design of a suboptimal filter.
