Increasing the sensitivity gain of an ultrashort-wave FM-receiver
Abstract
A comparative study is presented of magnetic antennas and loop antennas in order to determine which of these types of antennas will lead to higher sensitivity in a semiconductor microelectronic FM-receiver for the ultrashort-wave range. It is shown that a loop antenna applied to a miniature transportable direction-finding FM-receiver achieves a sensitivity gain of about 20 dB over a magnetic-antenna receiver. This gain is attained by using an FET in the input circuit.
