Observations of TID by an array of HF-Doppler sounders
Abstract
An array of CW Doppler sounders was operated from November 17 to December 7, 1977 in an effort to observe traveling ionospheric disturbances (TID) during this period. The objectives of the study were to: (1) determine horizontal and vertical trace velocities of isolated or quasi-periodic TID, and (2) to deduce the dispersion of the daytime horizontal phase velocity of TID in the period range from several minutes to one hour. Some sample results are presented.
