Precision pointing and tracking system for space laser communications
Abstract
Design approaches for acquisition, tracking and pointing for a narrow-beam cooperative space laser communications transmitter and receiver are presented with particular reference to the Air Force Space Laser Communications Program. Criteria for the selection of key components and system test data are given which demonstrate acquisition in less than 6.0 seconds and tracking with less than 0.6 microrad error.
