Ray calculation using the perturbation method in the inhomogeneous magnetoactive ionosphere
Abstract
A system of ray equations is solved for wave propagation in an anisotropic plane-stratified ionosphere. Perturbation theory in the first approximation is used to obtain quadrature formulas for ray trajectories in a parabolic ionosphere. Ray range and ray deviation from the plane of incidence for the propagation of waves across the magnetic meridian are determined. Fluctuations of the refractive index can lead to intense fluctuations of polarization.
