Single line CCD camera to improve positioning
Abstract
A linear optical CCD array (thus eliminating all moving parts) has been developed for the on-line visualization of the optical intensity function along a strip. The array is used for the precise positioning of a reference graticule on diffuse emission and absorption lines. Positioning can be performed by moving the spectrum longitudinally until the maximum or minimum of the intensity plot reaches the reference line. The CCD array is used to provide the display of a real time intensity plot of the degree of darkening along the longitudinal axis of the spectrum. The device is adaptable to any standard microscope (also those used with Abbe comparators).
