Analytical study of burn-out in closed end vertical tubes
Abstract
In this article an approximate analytical method related to the burn-out condition in heated closed-end vertical tubes is explained. The axial burn-out heat flux is calculated and its dependence on the dimensionless diameter and the physical properties ratio is given. It is also shown that under conditions considered here the length to diameter ratio does not affect the heat flux. Discussion of the results and comparison with the results of experimental investigations on vertical closed-end tubes, vertical thermosyphons and wickless heat pipes is also given.
