Optimization of a superconducting solenoid with variable current-density
Abstract
The paper describes a method for optimizing a superconducting magnet system with currents of 50-70 A and an induction range of 5-10 T. In the procedure the field distribution is determined on the basis of the solenoid radius and the dependence of critical current-density on magnetic field strength. A maximum magnetic field in the center of the solenoid is realized by reducing the diameter of the niobium coil wire for the outer winding.
