Equations of motion of mechanical systems with ideal one-sided constraints
Abstract
A method for deriving equations of motion for a system with one-sided constraints is presented. The method is based on exclusion of constraints by means of nonsmooth irreversible substitutions of generalized coordinates. The approach is applied to the example of the forced oscillations of a harmonic oscillator with a one-sided rigid constraint.
