Parameters of initial section of turbulent semibounded jet in a compressible flow
Abstract
A system of momentum and energy equations is used to calculate the parameters of the initial region of a semibounded turbulent jet of variable density in the presence of suction or blowing. Attention is given to an evaluation of the effect of blowing (suction) and flow compressibility on the boundary layer thickness, the cores of constant velocities and jet region, and the length of the initial region. The formulas derived are applied to particular cases, such as a submerged semibounded jet, and a jet that propagates in a gradientless wake
