Boundary layer of electrically conducting medium at the surface of a cylinder
Abstract
The longitudinal uniform flow of a fluid of variable electrical conductivity past a heated nonideally conducting large-aspect-ratio cylinder is analyzed. It is assumed that the applied external magnetic field is constant and that its only component is directed along the cylinder radius. The induced magnetic field is neglected. The flow parameters in the boundary layer are determined as a function of the electrical conductivity of the medium and the field intensity.
