Physical problems associated with BL Lac objects and QSOs.
Abstract
Comparisons are drawn between BL Lac objects, QSOs, and the active nuclei of galaxies, i.e., all exhibit strong redshift. It is noted that while BL Lacs do not show emission redshift, as do the other objects, their absorption lines are similar to those in QSOs. Attention is given to three phenomena: (1) a magnetic field much smaller than the amount of photon radiation, indicating a Compton effect, (2) apparent superlight velocities due to an incorrect assessment of the distances of the QSOs and related objects, and (3) high radiative energies due to extremely compact gravitational sources.
