Vibrational states in a heavy quark bound system
Abstract
There are numerous speculations on the existence of heavy quarks Q. In the context of the quark-confining string model, the (QQ) bound system is predicted to exhibit, below the continuum threshold, vibrational levels in addition to the states expected from the charmonium picture. This is applied to the recent discovery of the upsilon (9.4).
