Light absorption by ion acoustic turbulence in laser-produced plasmas
Abstract
A review of experiments on light absorption by laser-produced plasmas is presented and the need for another efficient absorption mechanism besides resonant absorption is clearly demonstrated. Laser light absorption by ion acoustic fluctuations is proposed as the missing absorption mechanism. Calculations of this absorption mechanism in a magnetized plasma are then presented.
