Evaluation of a real-time distributed processing system
Abstract
A system to serve as ARPANET's main Signal Processing Research facility to meet requirements of signal processing experiment it was necessary to provide on this system advanced capabilities for concurrent real-time acquisition, processing, storage and display of multiple data streams under interactive user control. A design for user interface and distributed monitor to overcome some of the software limitations is presented. The proposed software structure is intended to support a wide range of time-critical distributed processing applications such as: industrial process control, satellite data dissemination, energy control centers, etc.
