Long-Range Variation of Basic Parameters in the Northern Hemispheric Circulation.
Abstract
A statistical analysis of the long-range variations of basic parameters of the Northern Hemisphere circulation is presented for the period from April, 1955 to December, 1974. Three different methods of analysis are used. First, time variations of single parameters are studied using harmonic analysis. Second, the important spatial and associated temporal coefficients of mutually independent patterns in the parameters are examined, using eigenvector analysis. Finally, the cross-correlations of various pairs of parameters are examined using cross-spectral analysis.
