Cathodes for controlling high-power lasers
Abstract
In the work described, it proved possible to determine quantitatively the relationship between the electrode geometry, the spark behavior, and the space-charge-limited current intensity for laser systems with cold cathodes, as well as the influence of cooling the beam aperture on the mean peak current density. The results obtained should make it possible to adapt effectively (optimally) an electron system for controlling transverse high-pressure gas discharges to a given laser system and also to determine the limits of the cathode and beam aperture capacity.
