The quasi-stationary operational characteristics of small dc machines with controllable electronic commutator
Abstract
The reported investigation is concerned with the theoretical description of the significant relations found in the quasi-stationary operational characteristics of dc machines with separate excitation and electronic commutation. Particular attention is given to the wide range of control possibilities for an electronic commutator. It is found that a controllable electronic commutator provides excellent possibilities for the guidance and control of machine operations. Control advantages of a digital control circuit can be extended by making use of microprocessors. In such a case it would be, in principle, possible to program any desired operating characteristics. It is pointed out, however, that under certain conditions dynamical problems might arise which could not be solved by means of the described quasi-stationary control procedures.
