The Determination of Single Atom Surface Site Geometries on Tungsten
Abstract
The field ion microscope was used to identify the geometric configuration of single tungsten (211) and (321) surfaces and both nickel and tungsten atoms on the tungsten (111) surface immediately after adsorption from the vapor phase and subsequent to thermally induced motion on the surface. The experimental procedures coincidentally provide the information necessary to calculate adatom surface diffusion parameters.
