Analysis of multi-channel ALOHA systems
Abstract
A population of users communicating with a central station to a packet radio network, using the so-called slotted ALOHA random-access technique is considered. The performance of several multi-channel slotted ALOHA systems is explored. Two possible multi-channel structures are described: (1)a randomly multiplexed, K-channel slotted system in which a user can use, in any time slot, a fixed number of channels randomly chosen from the K available channels prior to transmission; and (2) a slotted system utilizing K independent ALOHA channels in which a user group is permanently assigned to a specific channel.
