a Study on the Foundation of the Theory of Radiative Energy Transfer.
Abstract
The basic laws of the phenomenological theory of radiative energy transfer on the basic of the stochastic scalar wave theory are derived. An equation of radiative energy transfer in free space is derived which differs somewhat from the corresponding equation of the phenomenological theory. It reduces to the conventional form in the case of statistically homogeneous fields. The angular spectrum representation is obtained for the specific intensity and the propagation of specific intensity is then considered in a half space. The method of the theory of radiative energy transfer is used to study, in the paraxial approximation, some second-order coherence properties of beams produced by the Gaussian Schell-model sources. The radiative transport in a randomly fluctuating medium is studied using perturbation theory.
