Origination of a self-oscillating mode /magnetic striations/ in a nonequilibrium magnetized plasma
Abstract
A quantitative evaluation is presented of the nonlinear solution to the problem of the development of ionization instability in a confined plasma region. Consideration is given to the 'soft' regime of stability loss - that of magnetic strata; self-oscillation amplitudes, and cross-sectional distributions of electron density and current are established for this regime. The results are used for the qualitative analysis of experimental results concerning a nonequilibrium magnetoplasma for the case of short-wavelength oscillations in the regime of full impurity-ionization.
