High-energy part of ion distribution function in a multiple-mirror magnetic trap
Abstract
The paper examines the high-energy asymptotic behavior of the distribution functions of deuterium and tritium nuclei in a multimirror plasma confinement device; this behavior characterizes the neutron diffusion out of the device. In the case of a pure D-T plasma, the ion distribution function is close to the Maxwellian form, while in the case of the introduction of multicharged-ion impurities (which serve to reduce the length of the device), a significant impoverishment of the high-energy part of the distribution functions of D and T nuclei is observed.
