A photometric and spectroscopic study of the open cluster NGC 2169.
Abstract
Intermediate- and narrow-band photometry, MK spectral types, and radial velocities are presented for 18 stars in the vicinity of the northern open cluster NCC 2169. Analyses yield a mean cluster color excess of E(B - V) = () .20 and a distance modulus of 10"'.25. An upper limit to the nuclear age of 23 X 106 yr is obtained for the aggregate. The radial velocities confirm the variability of the two proposed P Cephei stars discovered photometrically. Six of the 18 stars are probable nonmembers, including the two P Cephei variables and the three late-type stars, according to various criteria. Key words: open cluster NGC 2169
