Gain-verification problem in extreme ultraviolet lasing
Abstract
A technique employing optically thin intercombination lines from similar ions is proposed for gain verification problems. The technique may be used for high-density laser-produced plasmas applicable for extreme ultraviolet lasing. Impurity line identifications in laser-produced plasmas, as found through the proposed method, indicate that reports of gain on the 58.23 A line may not represent conclusive results.
