Scattering of massless lumps and nonlocal charges in the twodimensional classical nonlinear σmodel
Abstract
Finiteenergy solutions of the field equations of the nonlinear σmodel are shown to decay asymptotically into massless lumps. By means of a linear eigenvalue problem connected with the field equations we then find an infinite set of dynamical conserved charges. They, however, do not provide sufficient information to decode the complicated scattering of lumps.
