Interaction of the solar wind with the earth's magnetosphere
Abstract
MHD models of solar wind flow about the earth's magnetosphere are formulated and developed by analytic and numerical techniques. Local and averaged equations are applied to the study of axisymmetric and nonsymmetric flows, and the use of nondimensional and gasdynamic forms of MHD equations is considered. Numerical solutions of problems concerned with the flow of the solar wind about a blunt body are discussed.
