Electron-optical photography in physics experiments
Abstract
The work reviews the use of image converter tubes for high-speed (nanosecond) photography of various physical processes. A statistical model of image recording is presented which takes into account random as well as systematic errors of the recording process. The problem of optimal recording is examined and consideration is given to a number of image converters and cameras that have been developed for this high-speed photographic process. The use of such techniques for the diagnostics of plasmas, lasers, and electrical breakdown is discussed.
