Geometrical theory of diffraction
Abstract
After a review of the fundamental principles of the geometrical theory of diffraction, the work gives attention to such of its aspects as ray fields in homogeneous media and the reflections of these fields from smooth bodies, caustic and focal decompositions, diffraction waves, the relationship between the geometrical theory and methods of physical optics, and diffraction on bodies of complex shape and waveguide problems. Mention is made of the use of the geometrical theory to calculate the radiation patterns of microwave antennas.
