It is noted that 2179 reports of 1917 fireballs brighter than -10 mag over the USSR have been made between 1925 and 1975. These include 1572 reports of 1372 fireballs over the European part of the USSR (area: 5.9 million sq km). The multiple-count technique is used to estimate a true number of fireballs of 5900 and a fireball detection probability of 0.23 for the European part of the USSR. The flux of meteoric bodies considered is found to be 6.3 x 10 to the -23rd per sq cm/sec, which is in agreement with fireball-network photographic data as well as with the conventional mass-frequency relation.
