Motion of gyroscope in noncontacting suspension under internal resonance conditions
Abstract
In the present paper, Martynenko's (1974) analysis of the interaction between the translational and angular motions of an unbalanced rotor in a noncontacting suspension is extended to the case of a rotor with an elongated ellipsoid of inertia. The analysis reveals the possible appearance of resonance relations between the natural frequencies of the rotor's angular motion. Approximate equations of motion are derived, and the resonance effects in the rotor's motion are studied.
