Zero mass surfaces and cosmological singularities
Abstract
Summary. Some nonsingular cosmological models in the conformally invariant gravitation theory of Hoyle & Narlikar are presented. It is shown that each of these solutions contains a threesurface on which particle masses vanish. Upon transformation to a conformal frame, in which the Hoyle Narlikar equations reduce to Einstein's equations, it is shown that each of the nonsingular models reduces to some standard relativistic cosmological model with the zero mass surface showing up as a spacetime singularity.
