Dissipative cycles and heat pipes
Abstract
A theoretical analysis is devoted to the operation of a heat pipe with irreversible cycle and no overall external work. The cycle is described using a T-S diagram with attention given to the thermodynamics of capillary flow. The analysis has led to the determination of (1) an internal characteristic associated with the thermodynamics and fluid dynamics of the heat pipe and (2) an external characteristic defined by the external heat transfer conditions.
