Solution of the integral equation according to Stratton and Chu and their special formulation for diffraction and radiation problems by a projection method
Abstract
Problems of radiation and diffraction of electromagnetic waves are investigated. Solutions are found by integral equations on the basis of the Stratton and Chu integrals. We discuss some difficulties in formulating and evaluating these integral equations by a method of projection: (1) uniqueness of solutions (eigenvalues, extended boundary conditions), (2) convergence of the numerical solutions of the integral equations (appropriate choice of expansion and weighting functions). Some of the numerical problems are illustrated by a linear antenna and a periodically deformed cylinder.
