Noise as a possible risk factor for raised blood pressure in man
Abstract
Stress factors in working environments have recently been discussed as risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Acute exposure to noise has been shown to cause a temporary rise in blood pressure. Herein are briefly described physiological changes leading to a rise in blood pressure and a study undertaken of a group of male industrial workers in Sweden on the connection between a noise-induced hearing loss and raised blood pressure.
