Design and preliminary results of an interdisciplinary field study on urban noise

Herein is described a field study on noise situations and their effects in Hamburg, West Germany. The three main subjects of study have been to identify common sources of urban noise and acoustically describe the exposure, to investigate the effects on humans of noise exposure and to make an evaluation of noise effects and compare different kinds of noise in regard to annoyance. As the study has not yet been completed, only preliminary results are set forth.
