Oxydes de plomb. IV. Evolution structurale de l'oxyde Pb 3O 4 entre 240 et 5°K et mécanisme de la transition
The Pb 3O 4 structural transition has been studied by powder neutron diffraction technics giving numerous data to a diffraction angle of 160° 2θ. The crystallographic parameters are refined by means of a profile refinement program. During the transition, Pb IVO and Pb IIO bonds are not changed and some Pb IIPb II distances remain constant. A mechanism established from some Pb IIPb II repulsive interactions is proposed to account for the symmetry change at 170°K.
