Flexible channel electron multiplier and its characteristics
Abstract
The use of semiconducting high-polymer compounds as secondary emission materials in channel electron multipliers is reviewed. The use of these materials is found to provide flexibility and to significantly improve the resistance to shock and vibration, while simplifying device fabrication. The characteristics of multipliers produced on the basis of such materials are summarized; attention is given to photon detection, temperature, and aging characteristics. These multipliers have been found to be promising as satelliteborne UV or electron detectors.
