Calculation of x-ray production rate and ionization-state density in hot aluminum plasma
Abstract
Ionization-state density and x-ray production rates are calculated for hot dense homogeneous Al plasmas for electron temperatures of 15-10 000 eV and ion densities of 1018-1024 cm-3. The calculation is based on the assumption that the plasma is in a quasi-steady-state and includes the following processes: (a) electron-impact ionization, (b) radiative recombination, (c) dielectronic recombination, and (d) three-body recombination. The ionization potential reduction and electron degeneracy at high densities, as well as the influence of population distribution among the excited states, are taken into account.
