Submillimetre waves and their applications; Proceedings of the Third International Conference, University of Surrey, Guildford, England, March 29-April 1, 1978
Abstract
These papers deal with such topics of relevance to submillimeter-wave research as gas lasers, electron-beam sources, mixers, receivers, detectors, measurement techniques, components, astronomical observations, atmospheric studies, dielectrics, plasma measurements, solid-state studies, and broadband spectroscopy. Specific topics include advances in optically pumped far-IR lasers, the gyrotron as a high-power source of millimeter and submillimeter waves, frequency stabilization of IMPATT diodes in the submillimeter-wave region, submillimeter-wave optics, low-noise Schottky-barrier diode mixers for wavelengths less than 1 mm, voltage-tunable differential heterodyne spectroscopy in the far-IR with Josephson junctions, and submillimeter spectroscopy of semiconductors. Other papers discuss the observation and assignment of far-IR laser lines from optically pumped (C-13)H3OH, absorption measurements of far-IR laser gases with and without a dc electric field, a tunable far-IR Raman generator, far-IR Fourier-transform spectroscopy, a scanning Fabry-Perot interferometer for far-IR balloon astronomy, the submillimeter performance of photon-drag detectors, and Fourier-transform spectrum analysis of cyclotron radiation from the PLT tokamak.
