The electromagnetic fields and the phase constants of dielectric image lines
Abstract
An exact solution is presented for the calculation of the phase constant and the field distribution of one single or two coupled dielectric image lines of rectangular cross section. Avoiding the approximations made by Marcatili (1969), the method presented can be used directly for the calculation of the dielectric image line. Numerical results are presented along with experimental results for lines fabricated of paraffin wax. The physical properties of the electromagnetic fields and the mode designation are presented.
