Analytical strong-signal analysis for two-mode operation of homogeneously broadened lasers
Abstract
A strong-signal semiclassical analytical solution is obtained for a homogeneously broadened laser operating in two modes. The time development of the electric field is presented in a form similar to the weak-signal expressions of Lamb but with a modified description of the self-gain saturation coefficient. The analysis favorably predicts the linearity of the output power of a laser gyro with the gain over loss ratio, and the dependence of the output power of a CO2 laser on its mirror reflectivity.
