A two-loop rectangular-wave modulator
Abstract
A two-loop rectangular-wave modulator has been designed. It is applicable to a conventional rectangular-wave modulator containing an integrating network in the feedback loop. The modulator may be operated at a low quiescent pulse repetition frequency without producing excessive distortion. The technique utilizes the differentiating network in the positive feedback loop along with the usual integrating network in the negative feedback loop. It is noted that oscillation is sustained even if the integrating network is of the first order. When the differentiating network time constant is large as compared to that of the integrating network, the oscillation period is primarily a function of the differentiating network.
