A model of the formation and evolution of the Jilin meteorite
Abstract
Five stages are outlined for the evolution of the Jilin meteorite: (1) birth, fractionation, and condensation of the solar nebular disk, (2) formation of the parent body and thermal metomorphism, (3) cooling of the parent body and break-up due to impact, (4) formation and orbiting of the Jilin meteor, and (5) the fall of the meteorite into earth's atmosphere and subsequent meteor shower.
