Electromagnetic field of a layer with an impressed electromotive force
Abstract
Conducting regions such as the earth mantle, oceans, or the ionosphere may have layers with impressed electromotive forces. Data on the electromagnetic field in such layers can be used to study the properties of the medium as well as the impressed electromotive force itself. This paper presents a theoretical model for the general problem involving an electromagnetic field generated in an unbounded horizontally stratified medium by an impressed electromotive force continuously distributed in one of the layers of this medium.
