Viscous flow in the gap between a rotating disk and a motionless casing
Abstract
Consideration is given to the two-phase flow of a viscous fluid and aluminum particles in the axial gap between a rotating disk and a motionless plastic casing. The flow is three-dimensional and depends on Reynolds number and gap width. A flow visualization of the vortex system generated in this type of flow is presented. A stability diagram, with gap width plotted versus Reynolds number, is also given.
