Statistical properties of turbulence in the inertial subrange of the spectrum
Abstract
Statistical properties of turbulence in the inertial subrange of the spectrum are analyzed. An expression for the probability distribution of the velocity difference at two points is obtained. This equation contains, as unknown parameters, constants which characterize the turbulence spectrum in the inertial subrange. These constants are calculated from assumption of the existence of a physically meaningful solution, without using any empirical data. The analytical results are in satisfactory agreement with experimental data.
