Development of perturbations in two-dimensional laminar flows
Abstract
The paper examines the existence of periodic self-oscillatory modes of Blasius flow in the plane-parallel approximation; in other words, consideration is given to secondary flows in boundary layers on a semiinfinite plate. Secondary flow modes are calculated numerically. Attention is then given to the solution of the nonlinear problem with initial values of perturbations of laminar flows. Conditions under which initial perturbations transform to secondary flows are investigated.
