Interframe slope overload for television picture noise reduction
Abstract
Results of experiments on the temporal slope-overload phenomenon obtained with a 625 line/5.5 MHz digital television interframe delta modulator are reported. Whereas pictures containing genuine movement are heavily degraded, still pictures contaminated by noise can be rendered usable: s.n.r. improvements from 17 dB (original) to 34 dB (processed) have been obtained.
