Diffraction of a sharply directed sound pulse on an acoustically soft sphere
Abstract
The creeping-wave method is used to solve the problem of the scattering of an acoustic conical pencil beam on an acoustically soft sphere in the axisymmetric formulation. It is found that the echo signal consists of a specularly reflected pulse, spherical waves generated at points of intersection of beam and sphere, and sequences of creeping-wave pulses.
